Goldman Copeland has won a 2026 Distinguished Engineering Award from the New Jersey Alliance for Action. It recognizes Goldman Copeland’s work designing energy upgrades of major infrastructure at St. Peter’s University Hospital, the 478-bed acute-care teaching hospital in New Brunswick, NJ, and implementing those upgrades while the hospital was in full operation. The Award was presented at a celebratory breakfast at the Forsgate Country Club in Monroe Township, NJ, on July 29th.
Goldman Copeland provided engineering design for St. Peter’s University Hospital, which is part of Saint Peter’s Healthcare System, through PSE&G’s Engineered Solutions Program, a multi-year initiative that funds the installation of energy efficiency measures for large-scale New Jersey ratepayers. Through the program, PSE&G pays for an energy audit and, after reviewing the projected energy cost savings, pays for or provides financial incentives to support the design and construction.
The energy upgrades at St. Peter’s University Hospital included replacing a chiller and air-handling units and then rigging and connecting them. Implementation involved close collaboration between Goldman Copeland, PSE&G, The Barham Group (the installing contractor), and hospital facility directors, and it demonstrated that energy upgrades can be made while a healthcare facility operates at full capacity.
Goldman Copeland is expert at energy audits, energy design, and the resulting implementation. If you would like to speak with one of our experts, please contact [email protected].
