The New York Chapter of the Association of Energy Engineers has named Kristen Baker of Goldman Copeland as its Young Energy Professional of the Year. Kristen manages the day-to-day operations of all energy-related projects including audits, retro-commissioning, electrification, and decarbonization for Goldman Copeland, which has completed energy audits and retro-commissioning projects for more than 75 million square feet of commercial and institutional properties. Over the last year, her role has focused on providing project management for three, innovative, large-scale initiatives that have emphasized her regional leadership position.
Those three initiatives involve: bringing about 200 commercial and institutional properties into compliance with New York City’s Local Law 97; advancing electrification of Columbia University’s residential undergraduate housing portfolio, which totals about 150 buildings; and serving as on-site energy manager for 25 properties of SL Green, one of the largest property owners in Greater New York City, through an initiative of NYSERDA.
Kristen Baker joined Goldman Copeland and our Energy Services Department eight years ago, after graduating from Lehigh University with a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering. She has since been promoted steadily from an entry-level engineering position to her current award-winning role.
“It’s exciting to see Kristen receive this much-deserved recognition from AEE New York,” said Tristan Schwartzman, Principal and Director of Energy Services. “I’m delighted that the combination of Kristen’s talents and skills and the breadth and range of Goldman Copeland’s energy-related projects has enabled her to be honored in this impressive way.”
