The Dance Theatre of Harlem is America’s first black classical ballet company, and was founded in 1968 by Arthur Mitchell.

Our Dance Theatre of Harlem project required replacing aging HVAC and fire protection systems covering the entire building. Our analysis of the task revealed that the facility needed a zoned HVAC system (with individual zones/areas) that delivers the year-round comfort that was previously lacking. Aside from improving the comfort of the occupants, individual zones deliver increased energy efficiency for the HVAC System.

This type of HVAC and fire protection system strategy reflects the building’ use, occupancy patterns, density, ventilation rates, comfort and noise levels.
